How Poxture handles your camera

Last updated 2026-10-13

This page has two parts: what the app does with your camera, and what this website collects.

What Poxture keeps on your Mac

Your camera images never leave your Mac. Poxture looks at each frame on your Mac and keeps numbers, not video, like how far you lean. No image or video is ever sent anywhere.

The camera

By default the camera turns on for a few seconds at each check, once a minute, and is off in between. Pause Poxture, lock your screen or let your Mac sleep, and the camera stops.

Photos

Poxture keeps one photo per alert, so you can see how you were sitting, unless you turn Keep photos off in Settings. Photos stay on your Mac, stay out of Time Machine and are deleted after 7 days by default. You can delete them all in Settings.

How to check it yourself

You don't have to take our word for any of this. Each check below needs nothing from us.

Watch the camera light

The green light comes on for a few seconds once a minute, then goes dark. Pause Poxture or lock your screen, and the light stays dark until you're back.

See what it keeps

Poxture writes no video. In Settings, Keep photos shows whether it saves a photo at each alert, and lets you turn that off or delete them all.
